What Aurobindo would come to be well known for would be the firebrand speeches he would write for Sayajirao.
In one such speech given in 1902, Sayajirao, as notes, “declared that India’s poverty was directly connected to colonialism.” [5/n]
“Only a great national movement in which each man will work for the nation and not for himself or for his caste could reinvigorate the country,” Sayajirao continued in his speech. [6/n]
The revolutionary and later philosopher, Aurobindo also served in Baroda under Sayajirao. His first appointment, as notes, was in the Settlement Department, followed by in several other departments. [4/n]
