Savitri Era of those who adore,
Om Sri Aurobindo & The Mother.
Democracy is a myth; at best a theoretical construction. Good as a toy but to talk of perfection is deception. Diversity in India is the biggest hurdle for Democracy growing root. So true Democracy remains a dream. What we undergo is hypocrisy. Media amplifies this epiphenomenon.
Started in August 2009 as a Quarterly, S'raddha is no longer available in hard copy. Ideally, each issue should have been published as a separate book for longer shelf-life. Given its high quality content on Sri Aurobindo, I procured some old issues and hope to complete the set.
What we study under the school and college syllabus is by no means the only way of knowing the truth. Sri Aurobindo's explanation hasn't received any official sanction nor the West pays any attention. Hence the responsibility is absolutely yours; to discover and digest his books.
Taking a literal and concrete meaning of Sri Aurobindo's predictions needs to be avoided. His nishkama karma comment wrt Cripps episode is quite illuminating in this context. His stand on many other issues like AIT or Sanskrit are better moderated in view of changed circumstances
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as Supreme Divine (and not mere avatar) is a matter for believers and within them different varieties exist. But their writings belong to a certain time and context which needs to be kept in mind. Mantric aspect and transformative power however are crux
There's a narrative how Sri Aurobindo achieved successive spiritual realisations based on some of his own comments. A similar thread runs through The Mother's life too. But for believes like us, these are all superficial stories; they were the Supreme Divine from the very birth.
Those of us accept The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the Supreme Divine must be careful not to associate them with old formulas, mantras, or mythology. This universal faith must establish its uniqueness without any compulsion of hiding behind the non-threatening phrase Integral Yoga.
A corollary is The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are the Supreme Divine even if they didn't write anything or committed many blunders. Perhaps there would be other indicators but they belong to the realm of faith. It matters little proclamation of March 30, 1914 has encapsulated it all.
Tweets above question the published books that raises the important issue of how can we be so selective and who decides? Text is sacrosanct for the academic method and any violation would open the floodgates of a free for all. Yet the challenge is real and tons of sagacity needed
I don't follow Gita nor think it's an ideal prescription for modern society. Mythological fiction can't be allowed to rule present generation. Anachronism needs to be avoided to build a global community for which Auroville is already a model. Mitra and Varuna however are relevant
Agree wholeheartedly and I apply whatever little I understand of Humanities when I write here. My opinion doesn't match with anyone else but I'm helpless about it. So, don't worry, no one is taking my words seriously; at least there's no evidence of it till now.
Many are discussing the top leaders but Democracy entails that people will elect their local representatives who in turn will elect the leader. Flouting this process is giving rise to authoritarian tendencies and manipulative propensity. JP used to talk of a partyless Democracy.
Political speculation involving permutations and combinations of myriad opposition parties has gained momentum. Nothing unusual but a nation of such a vast population not exploring the possibility of something new or experimenting with what is yet untried looks a bit surprising.
21st century was an evocative slogan four decades back and no doubt the world has seen quantum jump in technology and communication. But as 2021 is nearing its end there's no sign of human misery subsiding. National boundaries hold firm and Sri Aurobindo's World Union is far away
It's a matter of regret that the Govt has become a helpless spectator when its citizens are being pushed into the clutch of digital empires. There's no sovereignty now nor privacy of the people. There should be will to fight cyber colonialism and establish domestic pre-eminence.
Supreme Court stressing on community kitchens is surely with good intentions but social problems don't have such readymade solutions. Nutrition is not the only issue since despite inadequacies, kitchen is the backbone of a home. Ashram or Platonic models are yet to be a success.
Thanks Professor for a rare endorsement. But you should be cautious in your political views as you hold an official position in the Auroville Foundation. Hope to meet you sometime. All the best.
Politics in each State has so crystallised that it's impossible to craft any overarching national party or alliance, now. Recognising this stark reality is most paramount so that granting Sovereignty to the States is debated in earnest before any unsavoury incident takes place.
D idea is to communicate not just Sri Aurobindo's quotations, but how his large integrality embraces all branches of knowledge, politics, sports, music, polity, art, architecture, psychology, health, poetry, literature n culture in general, to inspire students to do more for him.
Sir has been doing that excellently. And I wish all to read his posts carefully.
Under the jacket of
"SRI AUROBINDO" are hiding many fanatic Hindus, full of hatred for others! The 2 are different. Better to part ways. 99% muslims are religious-blind , we know. But I am not going to imitate them. Our PM is also reasonably tolerant.
The distorted history of the leftists defending the thousands of temple destructions has resulted in the hatred among the half-educated Hindus against the mosques. If this funny history is rectified, much of the anger against the Muslims will go. Nehruvian history!
There are some misconceptions about Auroville being a city where you don't need money to live and that the city itself takes care of the bill, but that's not the case.
