Clueless & lazy ppl attack the OIT through its spokesmen, wrongly thinking these are Hindu Nationalists. In reality the OIT 1.0 stems ca. 1770 from EU Enlightenment thinkers (Voltaire, Kant), EU Romantics (Herder, F Schlegel), EUans living in India (M Elphinstone, Pargiter). /1 twitter.com/Birdie4canary/
2/ The AIT is still gainsaid by Macaulayites Aurobindo & Ambedkar while Hindu Nationalists BG Tilak & VD Savarkar accept the AIT. Later, OIT 2.0 started w/ Parsi KD Sethna 1982 & US archaeologist Jim Shaffer 1984, now extended by Greek, Russian, French & Belgian scholars.
3/ The main Hindu Nationalist in the OIT, only from 1993 onwards, is now the spider in the OIT web: S Talageri,-- emphatically not an RSS-BJP man. Otherwise there may exist some H Nationalists applauding the OIT, but they've never contributed anything to it, not even sponsoring.
PP seems to have interiorized the hearsay that the MBh dates to ca. 3139 BC; but I haven't heard him give proof of that. Many from different backgrounds are contributing, but are still somewhat conditioned by pre-OIT assumptions; as happens to pioneers, unlike armchair critics.

The Indian National Congress retrofitted history to help secular unity of common citizens needed to fight British rule and usher in modern values. There was a price to pay for this. Which we are doing now.
June 25 is not just the anniversary of the #Emergency rule but also the birth anniversary of #VPSingh whose controversial implementation of the #MandalCommission report stopped/delayed BJP's rise. A lot of what he said then has come true. Do read his biography by
Judge a nation by how its rulers treat its garbage, its sick, its elderly, its farmers its women and it's children. Not in words but in deeds. Building highways and factories and writing slogans are the easier part.
My serious take: Any Indian party can now do better by giving a chance to young, aspiring politicians as long as they are energetic and competent. India's median age is 28. Young voters are not led by track records of senior leaders. They vote by hope, not memory.
The problem is exactly the volubility and incessant bombardment of a gloried past and a glorious future. The hard work is in the middle pertaining to a need for rigor and moderation. We are all overburdened by the too much ness of it in its inchoate unprocessed complexity.
Samvidhan Dharma is aspirational and includes material values like justice and equity. It is progressive and modern. Sanatan Dharma is restricted to worship and way of life without any attempt to alter historic social equations. It is conservative and minimalist
Samvidhan Dharma has strong roots in Sanatan Dharma, which in essence is not bound by any social and religious norms. It is based on the principles of harmony and liberation.
True but Sanatana Dharma has no emphasis on material progress and often seen as a religious code of conduct rather than a vehicle of universal justice
Sir, Sanatana Dharma need not follow any religious codes of conduct, else it would lose its essence of being Sanatana, i.e., eternity. Man made rules are time stamped and has no effect on eternity.
It is difficult to hard code as it is beyond mind. Indian sages had experienced it. Buddha and Sankara lived it. Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Ramana Maharshi, Sri Aurobindo have profoundly elaborated it. The list sounds Indian, but there would many others who'd have glimpsed.
That is why we have the concept of Yuga Dharma. Samvidhan is current (Yuga) Dharma as a contemporary interpretation of Sanatana
Again metaphysics and moral philosophy never blend until they are both anchored to reality . Sanatan dharma and the constitution can commingle but only through dialogue, openness , experience and humility, being attuned to our complex world, than to theorize and dogmatize.
We are the land of Kamasutra, Nakkeeran and Charvaka. We were an open society centuries before Soros. You are blocked anyway for cheap shots
One thing that has intrigued me of late is that people have insufficient information or knowledge about a thing but are not aware that it could be so. Knowing what you don't know can sometimes define your approach to knowledge.
The Freudian part of RW arguments is how they get personal and abusive. This comes from a mindset that wants domination rather than justice and does not recognise inequality possibly as a form of injustice. Narcissism sees inclusion as intrusion.
What we are witnessing this year in India is magnificent constitutional illiteracy, denying its content, concept, history, precedents and intent. This is because people don't know what they don't know and are proud of it.
Political illiteracy is so rampant in India that in discussing Tamil Nadu governor #RNRavi 's role there is a lack of fundamental clarity on the difference between law, morality and standards. Law (and Constitution) are objective. Morality and standards are subjective.

Sadly it is equally true that caste discrimination and untouchability are part of the fabric. We need both research and acknowledgement of these issues.

I think your use of "was" makes the whole thing a matter of theoretical history. We have to redefine everything in a contemporary context. That is the key point. We can't be in denial of social reality of TODAY that still reeks of exploitation and injustice
Living in the never personally lived past is a tough thing. Wish you good luck with this recommendation
#Opinion | India's constitution is more progressive than that of the US as it promises social justice. In the US, #AffirmativeAction is a current fashion driven by recent political awakening whereas India has baked it into the Constitution:
West Bengal village scene
The role of Aspiration, or, the Call from below, is quite great in Sri Aurobindo's ontology. Human effort for self-perfection can progress to a certain extent. Thereafter, the grace of The Mother has the power for the success. Human effort includes Rejection as well as Surrender.
The Mother & Sri Aurobindo being worshipped as the one Supreme Divine is one extreme. The other is people barely knowing them and their epochal contributions. In between exist myriad misinformation, misunderstanding, indifference, half-knowledge, prejudice, antipathy, and rivalry.
As no other religion or philosophy gives a satisfying explanation of the mystery of the world, Savitri Era Religion relies upon the comprehensive wisdom and Divine manifestation of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. Their collected works span over seventy volumes incarnateword.in/cwsa
Many admirers of Sri Aurobindo feel embarrassed about The Mother. Her foreign origin and Divine status attracts suspicion. Further, her role in the Ashram's growth is perceived as autocratic. There are many factors but the problem is that she has not got a place in history books.
Despite his competence in Sanskrit and admiration, Sri Aurobindo did not go the whole hog for the Veda and the Upanishads. He wasn't enthusiastic about the Puranas either. What he proposes in The Life Divine, instead, is unprecedented. Of course, The Mother book complements it.
Devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo prefer to follow their path individually. There is very less chance for collective activities. Reading is also a solitary act. Practicing the basic ethics in the course of regular work is treated as sadhana. Remember and Offer however is key.
At many places, Sri Aurobindo describes the different stages of progress or evolution. But that's a sort of illusion since the basic template of his philosophy is emergent. Supramental descent or The Mother's grace can bring in the real change. Aspiring for it is the whole secret.
Sri Aurobindo is the greatest philosopher of the world. He is the greatest poet as well. The Mother & Sri Aurobindo are the one Supreme Divine. Savitri Era Religion is the most modern and futuristic faith of the world. It has no method of initiation or fixed system of practice.
Many people look at religion condescendingly while spirituality or yoga is considered superior. Actually, it's a question of nomenclature and one has to progress from where he or she is. Savitri Era Religion obviates such a dichotomy and seeks legal recognition for the fraternity.
Sri Aurobindo predicted about a religion of humanity and hence Savitri Era Religion is likely to replace all existing religions. He started writing in 1893 and the world has seen enormous changes during the last 130 years. Rational and honest debates can lift him to the very top.
The writings of Sri Aurobindo amplify the fact that change can come by any means. More than the rational route of reading and understanding him, a wellspring of appreciation for his genius can grip the entire nation. Love for The Mother too can well up in an unexplainable manner.
Most people are unaware of the famous Auroville Case. While the majority judgement disallowed a separate religion status, the lone dissenting judgement of Justice O. Chinnappa Reddy gave a detailed justification for the devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo being a new religion.
Predominance of mythology prevents philosophical inquiry in India. Searching for the truth through the rational route doesn't travel very far. Sri Aurobindo filled this gap by writing The Life Divine. He also foresaw the emergence of an ideal society. Following him can catalyse.

The path may not be wholly rational but the way he presents his arguments is fairly rational in the academic sense. My point was that.
The academic approach is to be attentive and for careful observation. Ads, on the other hand, train to be inattentive and inauthentic. Sakshi Bhava too teaches a similar attitude. But, it's a deeper engagement with the environment in the teaching of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo.
The Marxist environment dominated the intellectual scene after Independence. Still, many poets and writers were deeply influenced by Sri Aurobindo. As they wrote in different Indian languages, the message reached the wider public. Unfortunately, such a situation is absent, today.
Understanding The Mother & Sri Aurobindo is the best assurance of intellectual clarity. Otherwise, one is likely to be misled by big names and alluring isms. Humanities, on its own, falters. Adding the Vedic evolutionary insights of Sri Aurobindo redeems it. Colleges should teach
Remembering what Sri Aurobindo says in the first paragraph of his The Life Divine is very important. Modernity and humanism have been successful in establishing a rational environment but underlying it exists a far greater reality. Sri Aurobindo captures its evolutionary intent.
To expect that the Constitution or democracy would enhance ethics is nothing but chimera. Sri Aurobindo emphatically expressed his disagreement with normal political means. Nothing will improve without the change of consciousness, he stressed. Savitri Era Party wants new politics.
Following The Mother & Sri Aurobindo entails faith, devotion, and loyalty to them. Interaction with other religions or paths or trying to synthesise them is better avoided. The world is full of distractions; task is to steer clear of them and collaborate with evolutionary forces.
